JESSIE MELENDREZ - DRUMS

Jessie started playing drums at 19, when after seeing friends play he wanted to be a part of it. Upon being introduced to Judas Priest's "Unleashed In The East" in 1979 by a friend he was sure he wanted to play drums. He was really struck by the changes in the songs and has been hooked on progressive metal ever since. Growing up he heard a wide variety of music, from mariachi bands to soul, funk, pop, and country. As long as it was good his family listened to whatever music was playing. At 19 he also earned 25 dollars for playing covers at his first gig. Lots of auditions followed but nothing ever really developed until he went to work at Tower Records in Anaheim, California and met Randy Korstick in 1986. They started rehearsing and about a year later they had a set of songs and played backyard parties and clubs as "Shadow". In 1990 he went to play for a band called "Badly Bitten." He then did a brief cover band gig and a lot of auditions but nothing really happened until in 1999 Randy gave him a call and wanted to form a band again. What Jessie would like is for The Haunting to be signed to a label and tour. He hopes to enjoy a long musical career in the Haunting.
